Snapper Rocks and Rainbow Bay sit at the southern end of the Gold Coast beside the Queensland–NSW border. Snapper Rocks became internationally renowned for surfing, forming the start of the famous Superbank surf break stretching toward Kirra. Rainbow Bay, once known as Shark Bay, was renamed in 1925 after HMS Rainbow and today remains one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic beach and surfing locations.
