Looking After Your Artwork

Where possible, position your artwork away from prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. Strong sunlight can affect the appearance of printed artwork over time.

Avoid placing artwork in areas with excessive humidity or where it may be exposed to water, steam or condensation.

Avoid touching the printed surface wherever possible. When handling an unframed print, use clean cotton gloves and hold the artwork by the margins only.

If storing an unframed print, keep it in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight. We recommend using appropriate archival sleeves or protective sheeting to help prevent scuffing or abrasion.

Dust the surface gently using a clean, soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive materials.

Do not spray water, glass cleaner or household cleaning products directly onto the artwork.

When moving or handling framed artwork, hold it securely by the frame rather than pressing against the printed surface. Avoid touching the face of the timber frame directly where possible, as natural oils from hands can leave residue. Clean cotton gloves are recommended when handling the frame.

Take particular care when cleaning the glazing. Use a soft, dry cloth and avoid allowing moisture or cleaning products to come into contact with the artwork, frame or edges.

For the best long-term preservation, we recommend displaying your artwork in a dry indoor environment, away from prolonged direct sunlight, excessive humidity and significant temperature fluctuations.
